The Elder Scrolls Online is a game that has been around for several years now, and there have been several large DLC's that have been released for the game in that time. For a new player, understanding where to start can be a bit daunting because of the sheer amount of content available to play in the game. With the entire world being accessible for all players, there's so much to do and some of it can seem like it's scattered from a story perspective.

When You First Start
The Main Storyline

Independent Storylines
There are many story arcs to follow in ESO, that stand on their own and aren't tied to, or dependent on, other story lines.
Year Long Story Lines / DLC
Over the last four years, Zenimax has added to the ESO story by releasing a new DLC with stories that were told over the course of a year. While it won't take you a year to play through the DLC's, each of them is rich in content and adds meaningfully to character development and the overall story of the world of The Elder Scrolls Online.
Outlined below is the chronological order of the DLC / stories, so that you know in which order to complete them. It should be noted that you don't NEED to complete them in that order, but it is recommended for a more fluid story.
